Penis envy

Penis envy is a Freudian hypothesis that girls develop an unconscious desire for male anatomy during psychosexual development, which Freud linked to perceived anatomical difference and later personality development.

Phallic stage: In Freudian theory, a psychosexual stage in which children focus attention on the genitals and parental relationships. Freud located penis envy in this stage of childhood development.
