Pennsylvania Dutch

Pennsylvania Dutch are a cultural group descended chiefly from German-speaking immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania, especially during the eighteenth century. The group includes both Amish and non-Amish communities and is associated with Pennsylvania German language and traditions.

Pennsylvania German: A variety of German historically spoken by Pennsylvania Dutch communities. Its everyday use and survival distinguish the group’s linguistic heritage.
