Arab conquest of Persia : The seventh-century conquest of the Sasanian Empire by Arab Muslim forces and the transformations that followed. The conquest reshaped Iranian institutions while Persian later re-emerged as a major written language.
Urdu literature : Literary writing in Urdu, a language whose poetic forms and vocabulary developed through contact with Persian and other languages. Persian models and vocabulary deeply shaped Urdu’s classical literary conventions.
