Petrus Plancius

Petrus Plancius (1552–1622) was a Dutch theologian, geographer, and cartographer whose maps and advocacy shaped Dutch maritime exploration and overseas trade.

Willem Barentsz: A Dutch navigator and explorer who led Arctic voyages in search of a Northeast Passage to Asia. Plancius supplied geographic expertise for Barentsz’s Arctic expeditions.
