Philip III of France

Philip III, known as Philip the Bold, was king of France from 1270 to 1285. He succeeded his father, Louis IX, and expanded royal authority and territory.

Louis IX of France: King of France from 1226 to 1270, Louis IX was later canonized as a saint. Philip inherited the throne from his father while accompanying him on the Eighth Crusade.
French royal domain: The lands held directly by the French crown, distinct from territories ruled by vassals. Philip's reign increased the territory administered directly by the monarchy.
