Pickpocketing

Pickpocketing is the theft of money or valuables from someone’s person, typically by stealth and without their noticing.

Distraction theft: Theft enabled by diverting a victim’s attention while property is taken. A distraction can conceal the moment a pickpocket reaches into a pocket or bag.
Robbery: The taking of property through force or the threat of force. Unlike robbery, pickpocketing typically relies on concealment rather than confrontation.
Personal security: Measures people use to reduce risks to their safety and belongings. Keeping valuables secured and monitoring belongings can limit pickpocketing opportunities.

Street crime: Criminal activity committed in public spaces or other accessible places outside private residences. Pickpocketing is a form of theft commonly associated with streets and other public spaces.
Crowd psychology: The study of how people think and behave in crowds. Crowded settings make incidental contact less conspicuous and attention harder to focus.
Bag snatching: The sudden taking of a bag from its holder, usually through direct physical action. Bag snatching is overt and forceful compared with the usual stealth of pickpocketing.
