Picric acid

Picric acid, or 2,4,6-trinitrophenol, is a yellow crystalline organic compound used in dyes, explosives, and chemical analysis.

Trinitrotoluene: Trinitrotoluene is an aromatic nitro compound widely used as a military explosive. Like picric acid, it is a nitroaromatic explosive, but it lacks a phenolic hydroxyl group.
Peter Woulfe: Peter Woulfe was an Irish-born chemist who reported picric acid in the eighteenth century. His experiments with indigo helped bring the compound into chemical literature.
