Pictor

Pictor is a small constellation in the southern sky, named for the painter’s easel. It contains the star Beta Pictoris and the barred spiral galaxy NGC 1700.

Coelum Australe Stelliferum: Coelum Australe Stelliferum is Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille’s 1763 star atlas of the southern sky. The atlas published the constellation that became Pictor.
Carina: Carina is a southern constellation representing the keel of the ship Argo. It is one of the constellations formed from the division of Argo Navis.
Dorado: Dorado is a southern constellation containing much of the Large Magellanic Cloud. This neighboring constellation lies east of Pictor.
NGC 1700: NGC 1700 is an elliptical galaxy in the constellation Pictor, notable for its unusual stellar structure. This distant galaxy is among Pictor’s prominent deep-sky objects.
