Pierre Louÿs

Pierre Louÿs (1870–1925) was a French poet and novelist known for classical themes, sensuous prose, and works including The Songs of Bilitis and Aphrodite.

The Songs of Bilitis: A collection of poems presented as translations of an ancient Greek poet, Bilitis, who was invented by Pierre Louÿs. This fabricated antiquity became Louÿs’s most famous experiment in literary impersonation.
