Platformism

Platformism is an anarchist tendency that advocates coordinated organizations with shared political theory, collective responsibility, and tactical unity. It seeks to strengthen anarchist influence through organized, deliberate participation in social struggles.

Anarchism: A political philosophy opposing hierarchy and coercive authority and advocating voluntary forms of social organization. Platformism is a current within anarchism, not a separate political tradition.
Dielo Truda: A Paris-based group of Russian and Ukrainian anarchist exiles that published the Organizational Platform of the Libertarian Communists. Its members formulated the text that became the foundation of Platformism.
Synthesist anarchism: An approach to anarchist organization that brings different anarchist tendencies together in broad federations. Synthesists reject Platformist demands for a more defined political line and tactical unity.
Social insertion: A strategy of sustained anarchist participation in popular movements without seeking to replace their own organizations. Platformists use social insertion to connect a specific anarchist organization with broader struggles.

Organizational Platform of the Libertarian Communists: A 1926 proposal for anarchist organization emphasizing theoretical unity, tactical unity, collective responsibility, and federalism. This document states the organizational principles from which Platformism takes its name.
Especifismo: A Latin American anarchist current advocating specific anarchist organizations that develop theory and participate in social movements. Especifismo shares Platformism's emphasis on distinct anarchist organization but developed in a different context.
Anarchist Federation (Britain): A British anarchist organization founded in 1986, known for its platformist politics and participation in class-struggle movements. It is a named example of an organization shaped by Platformist principles.
Collective responsibility: A principle holding members of an organization jointly accountable for decisions and actions taken in its name. Platformists apply this principle to keep members coordinated around collectively agreed decisions.
Nestor Makhno: A Ukrainian anarchist military and political leader during the revolutionary period after 1917. Makhno was among the exiled revolutionaries associated with drafting the Organizational Platform.
