Plymouth Colony

Plymouth Colony was an English settlement established in 1620 in present-day Massachusetts by the Pilgrims. It remained a separate colony until its merger with the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1691.

Separatists: English Protestants who sought to separate from the Church of England rather than reform it from within. The Pilgrims belonged to this movement before emigrating to North America.
Plymouth Council for New England: An English company granted broad colonization rights over territory in northeastern North America in 1620. It issued the land patent under which the Pilgrims settled.
