Polish People's Republic

The communist-led Polish state that existed from 1947 to 1989 under Soviet influence. Its official name from 1952 was the Polish People's Republic.

Polish United Workers' Party: The communist party that governed Poland from 1948 until the end of communist rule in 1989. Its leadership controlled the state and set its political direction.
