Political mobilization

Political mobilization is the process of organizing people to participate in collective political action, such as voting, protesting, or campaigning.

Resource mobilization theory: A theory explaining how social movements use money, organizations, skills, and networks to pursue collective goals. It shows how organizers convert available resources into sustained political participation.
Voter turnout: The share of eligible or registered voters who cast ballots in an election. Electoral mobilization seeks to increase participation at the ballot box.
Charles Tilly: An American sociologist and historian known for influential work on social movements, state formation, and collective action. Tilly traced how changing political conditions and organizations shape collective mobilization.
Political apathy: A lack of interest or concern about political affairs and participation. Apathy limits the pool of people organizers can recruit into collective action.

Political demobilization: The reduction or dismantling of organized political participation and collective action. It reverses mobilization by weakening participation, networks, or organizational capacity.
Political efficacy: A person's belief that they can understand or influence political processes. Successful collective action can strengthen participants’ sense that political engagement matters.
