Polyoxymethylene

Polyoxymethylene (POM) is a thermoplastic polymer made of repeating oxymethylene units. Its stiffness, strength, dimensional stability, and low friction suit it to precision components.

Formaldehyde: Formaldehyde is a simple aldehyde used as a chemical feedstock and as the monomer source for polyoxymethylene. POM’s oxymethylene chains are built from formaldehyde-derived units.

Hermann Mark: Hermann Mark was a polymer scientist who helped develop modern polymer chemistry and materials science. His work on polymer structure and synthesis formed part of the field in which POM emerged.
