Pope Sylvester I

Pope Sylvester I was bishop of Rome from 314 to 335, during Constantine I’s reign. His pontificate coincided with Christianity’s growing imperial status, though he played little documented role in Constantine’s major religious policies.

Constantine the Great: Roman emperor from 306 to 337 who supported Christianity and reshaped the empire’s religious landscape. Sylvester held office throughout Constantine’s reign, but surviving evidence gives the emperor a larger role in religious policy.
