Porphyry of Tyre

Porphyry of Tyre was a third-century Greek Neoplatonist philosopher who studied with Plotinus, edited his writings, and wrote an influential introduction to Aristotle’s Categories.

Neoplatonism: A philosophical tradition that interprets Plato’s thought through a hierarchical account of reality and the soul’s return to the One. Porphyry systematized and transmitted the tradition founded by his teacher Plotinus.
