Portrait photography

Portrait photography makes images of people, typically emphasizing their appearance, personality, or identity through pose, expression, lighting, and setting.

Portrait lighting: Lighting techniques that shape a photographed subject’s face and mood. Light defines facial form and can create distinctive portrait styles.
Daguerreotype: An early photographic process that produces a unique image on a silver-plated surface. Its sharp likenesses made photographic portraiture a major early use of the medium.
