Postosuchus

Postosuchus is an extinct genus of large predatory archosaurs that lived in North America during the Late Triassic. Its fossils show a long-snouted, deep-skulled animal with powerful jaws and limbs.

Archosaur: A major group of reptiles that includes crocodilians, birds, and their extinct relatives. Postosuchus belonged to this group, though it was not a dinosaur.
Postosuchus kirkpatricki: A species of Postosuchus known from Late Triassic fossils in Texas. Its fossils provide much of the anatomical evidence used to reconstruct the genus.

Crocodylomorpha: The archosaur lineage that includes modern crocodilians and their extinct relatives. Postosuchus was a close archosaur relative of this lineage, not a crocodilian.
