Princes in the Tower

Edward V and his younger brother Richard of Shrewsbury, Duke of York, were royal heirs lodged in the Tower of London in 1483 and then disappeared. Their fate and the circumstances of their disappearance remain unknown.

Edward IV: King of England from 1461 to 1470 and from 1471 until his death in 1483. His death left the twelve-year-old Edward V as king and began the crisis surrounding the princes.
Elizabeth Woodville: Queen of England as the wife of Edward IV and mother of Edward V and Richard of Shrewsbury. She sought sanctuary with her younger son before he was brought into the Tower.
