Province of New Jersey

The Province of New Jersey was a British colony in North America from 1664 until 1783, occupying the territory of present-day New Jersey.

New Netherland: A Dutch colonial province in North America that included parts of the present-day northeastern United States. English conquest of New Netherland in 1664 transferred the region that became New Jersey.
West Jersey: The western proprietary division of New Jersey, established in 1674 and lasting until royal consolidation in 1702. It formed one half of the divided province and developed its own institutions.
