Pseudomonadota

Pseudomonadota is a large phylum of Gram-negative bacteria, formerly called Proteobacteria. Its members include free-living, symbiotic, and pathogenic organisms with varied metabolisms.

Gram-negative bacteria: Bacteria whose cell envelopes have a thin peptidoglycan layer between inner and outer membranes. Pseudomonadota share this defining envelope architecture.
Bacterial metabolism: The chemical reactions bacteria use to obtain energy, build cellular material, and maintain life. Pseudomonadota encompass unusually varied metabolic strategies.
