Public spectacle

A deliberately staged event designed for public visibility and to shape attention, emotion, or political meaning. It turns an audience’s presence into part of the event’s effect.

Ritual: A repeated, formalized action that expresses shared meanings and social relationships. Ritual gives public events recognizable forms that audiences can interpret together.
Roman triumph: A formal procession in ancient Rome honoring a victorious military commander. The triumph displayed conquest and organized public recognition of Roman power.
