Pulse (music)

Pulse is the steady underlying beat that organizes musical rhythm. It provides a temporal reference against which musical events and rhythmic patterns are heard.

Tempo: Tempo is the speed of a musical performance, usually measured in beats per minute. Tempo measures how quickly the pulse recurs.
Rhythm: Rhythm is the organization of sounds and silences in time. Pulse is the regular reference beneath rhythm's varied durations and accents.
