Pyrazole

Pyrazole is an aromatic five-membered ring containing three carbon atoms and two adjacent nitrogen atoms. It is the parent structure of a broad family of compounds used in chemistry and medicine.

Imidazole: An aromatic five-membered ring with two nonadjacent nitrogen atoms and three carbon atoms. Its nitrogen atoms are separated, unlike the adjacent pair in pyrazole.
Aromaticity: Stabilization associated with cyclic, conjugated electron delocalization in a molecule. Delocalization across the ring accounts for pyrazole’s stability and bonding.

Pyrrole: An aromatic five-membered ring containing one nitrogen atom and four carbon atoms. Comparing its single nitrogen with pyrazole’s two clarifies ring aromaticity.
Acid–base properties of pyrazole: The protonation and deprotonation behavior of pyrazole and its ring nitrogens. The two nonequivalent nitrogens give pyrazole distinctive proton-transfer behavior.
