Continental climate : A climate marked by large seasonal temperature differences, common far from ocean influence. Qinghai’s inland position and elevation produce strong seasonal contrasts.
Hui people : A predominantly Chinese-speaking ethnic group in China, historically associated with Islam. Hui communities are prominent in Qinghai’s towns and eastern agricultural areas.
Golmud : A major city in western Qinghai, situated on the northern edge of the Tibetan Plateau. Golmud is a transport and industrial hub on routes crossing the plateau.
Yangtze : Asia’s longest river, flowing from the Tibetan Plateau across China to the East China Sea. The river rises in southern Qinghai before traversing central and eastern China.
