Qiu Jin

Qiu Jin (1875–1907) was a Chinese feminist, poet, and revolutionary who opposed Qing rule and was executed after an uprising in Zhejiang.

Shaoxing: A city in Zhejiang province, China, known for its literary and revolutionary history. Qiu Jin grew up in Shaoxing, where she later became involved in revolutionary organizing.
Sun Yat-sen: A Chinese revolutionary who helped overthrow the Qing dynasty and became the first provisional president of the Republic of China. Like Qiu Jin, Sun Yat-sen organized against Qing rule, though their work took different forms.
Qing dynasty: China’s last imperial dynasty, which ruled from 1644 until 1912. Qiu Jin’s activism sought the overthrow of the dynasty that governed China during her life.
