Quentin Skinner

Quentin Skinner is a British intellectual historian whose contextualist studies transformed the history of early modern political thought and concepts.

Contextualism: An approach to interpretation that explains texts through their historical and social contexts. Skinner treats political writing as intervention in historically specific debates, not timeless doctrine.
