Rabat

Rabat is Morocco’s capital and a major Atlantic port city at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River. Its historic core combines medieval monuments, a royal residence, and modern administrative districts.

Kasbah of the Udayas: A fortified citadel in Rabat overlooking the Bou Regreg estuary and Atlantic coast. Its walls mark the city’s strategic river mouth and preserve an old residential quarter.

Mausoleum of Mohammed V: A royal mausoleum in Rabat containing the tombs of Mohammed V and his sons. It expresses the modern monarchy’s presence beside the medieval Hassan Tower.
Corsair: A private shipowner or sailor authorized by a state to attack enemy vessels. Rabat’s 17th-century maritime power grew through corsair activity from its river harbor.
