Rabbi Akiva

Rabbi Akiva was a Jewish sage of the late first and early second centuries CE whose teachings shaped rabbinic Judaism. He supported Simon bar Kokhba’s revolt against Rome.

Tannaim: The rabbinic sages whose teachings were transmitted in the Mishnah and related early rabbinic works. Akiva was among the most influential sages of this generation.
Simon bar Kokhba: The Jewish leader who headed the revolt against Roman rule in Judea from 132 to 135 CE. Akiva recognized him as a messianic figure and supported his uprising.
