Radio-controlled car

A model car steered and propelled remotely by a radio transmitter communicating with an onboard receiver. Its control system converts radio commands into steering and throttle actions.

Radio control: Remote operation of a device by transmitting control signals over radio waves. The transmitter sends commands to the car through this form of remote control.
Chassis: The structural frame that supports a vehicle’s mechanical and electronic components. The chassis holds the drivetrain, suspension, steering, and radio equipment together.
RC touring car: A radio-controlled model car designed for racing on paved circuits. Its low stance and road tires suit smooth tracks and precise cornering.
Toy car: A miniature vehicle made primarily for play rather than detailed remote operation or competition. Many toy cars are not controlled by a separate radio transmitter and receiver.
Radio receiver: An electronic device that receives radio signals and converts them into usable output. The onboard receiver decodes transmitter commands and sends them to the car’s controls.
Drivetrain: The components that transmit power from an engine or motor to a vehicle’s wheels. Its gears, shafts, and differentials carry power to the car’s driven wheels.
RC buggy: A radio-controlled off-road model car with long-travel suspension and exposed wheels. Buggies handle dirt tracks and jumps that touring cars cannot manage.
Slot car: A model racing car guided by a groove in a track and powered through electrical contacts. A slot car follows a track guide instead of steering freely by radio.
Electronic speed control: An electronic circuit that regulates the speed and direction of an electric motor. It turns throttle commands into controlled power for an electric car’s motor.
Suspension: A system of springs and linkages that connects a vehicle’s wheels to its body. Suspension helps the car keep its tires in contact with uneven terrain.
