Radio wave

A radio wave is an electromagnetic wave in the radio-frequency portion of the spectrum. Its propagation enables wireless communication, radar, and remote sensing.

Electromagnetic radiation: Energy carried through space by oscillating electric and magnetic fields. Radio waves are the low-frequency region of this broader phenomenon.
Maxwell's equations: Four equations describing how electric and magnetic fields are generated and how they evolve. They predict electromagnetic waves and govern their interaction with charges and currents.
Radio communication: The transmission of information using radio waves between separated transmitters and receivers. It uses modulated radio waves to carry speech, data, and other signals.

Radio frequency: The range of electromagnetic frequencies commonly used for radio communication and related technologies. It specifies the frequency region that distinguishes radio waves from other electromagnetic waves.
Electric field: A vector field that describes the electric force experienced by a charged object. The electric component of a radio wave drives forces on charges in receiving antennas.
Radar: A system that detects objects by transmitting radio waves and analyzing their returned signals. The delay and direction of echoes reveal an object's distance and position.
Infrared: Electromagnetic radiation with frequencies above microwaves and below visible light. Its higher frequency and shorter wavelength distinguish it from radio waves.
Antenna: A conductive or dielectric structure that transmits or receives electromagnetic waves. Antennas convert electrical signals into radio waves and incoming waves back into signals.
Magnetic field: A field associated with moving electric charges and magnetic materials, exerting forces on them. It oscillates alongside the electric field in a propagating radio wave.
