Ras Alula Engida

Ras Alula Engida was an Ethiopian general and governor who fought Egyptian and Italian forces in the late nineteenth century, helping defend the Ethiopian Empire.

Battle of Gundet: An 1875 battle in which Ethiopian forces defeated an Egyptian expeditionary army in Eritrea. Alula commanded Ethiopian forces in this victory over Egypt’s first major invasion.
