Ray Jackendoff

Ray Jackendoff is an American linguist and cognitive scientist whose work connects generative grammar, semantics, and the structure of human cognition.

Generative grammar: A family of theories that explain language through mental systems of rules and representations. Jackendoff developed a generative account that connects grammar with meaning and cognition.
