Raymond Queneau

Raymond Queneau (1903–1976) was a French novelist, poet, and editor whose playful experiments with language helped shape modern literary practice. He cofounded Oulipo, a group exploring writing through formal constraints.

Oulipo: A literary group founded in 1960 that explores writing through formal constraints and mathematical structures. Queneau cofounded the group, which extended his interest in rule-governed literary invention.
