Red Adair

Paul Neal Adair (1915–2004) was an American oil-well fire specialist who pioneered dangerous techniques for extinguishing fires and controlling blowouts.

Oil well blowout: An uncontrolled release of oil or gas from a well after pressure-control systems fail. Blowouts create the high-pressure fires that Adair’s methods were designed to control.
Lakeview Gusher: A California oil-well blowout that flowed from 1910 to 1911 and became one of the largest in United States history. The gusher illustrates the long-lived, uncontrolled well flows that later specialists sought to master.
Asger 'Boots' Hansen: A Danish-born oil-well fire specialist who worked with Red Adair before leading his own company. Hansen was a close colleague whose later career carried Adair’s methods into another service firm.
