Refracting telescope

An optical telescope that forms images by bending light with lenses, typically using an objective lens to gather and focus the light.

Objective lens: The primary lens in an optical instrument, which collects incoming light and forms an image. It gathers light and creates the intermediate image that the eyepiece magnifies.
Hans Lippershey: A Dutch spectacle maker associated with the first documented patent application for a telescope in 1608. His patent application marks the refracting telescope’s earliest documented public appearance.
