Reinhard Heydrich

Reinhard Heydrich was a senior Nazi official who led the Reich Security Main Office and helped coordinate the Holocaust. He was assassinated in Prague in 1942 after the Allied operation Anthropoid.

Heinrich Himmler: The chief of the SS and one of the most powerful leaders of Nazi Germany. Himmler was Heydrich’s superior and appointed him to lead the security apparatus.
Reich Security Main Office: The SS agency that coordinated Nazi Germany’s security police and intelligence services. Heydrich headed this institution, which united the Gestapo, Kripo, and SD.
Operation Anthropoid: The 1942 Czechoslovak operation to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich in occupied Prague. The operation killed Heydrich and triggered severe German reprisals.

Sicherheitsdienst: The SS intelligence service that monitored perceived enemies and gathered political information. Heydrich built and led the SD before it became part of the RSHA.
