RENGO

RENGO, formally the Japanese Trade Union Confederation, is Japan’s largest national trade union center. It coordinates affiliated unions and represents labor interests in national policy and politics.

Japanese Democratic Party: A Japanese political party formed in 1996 with support from labor and other constituencies. RENGO’s political engagement has included relationships with parties representing labor interests.
Enterprise union: A trade union organized around employees of a particular company or corporate group. Enterprise unions are a common organizational foundation of RENGO’s affiliates.
Tripartism: A system of policy consultation among governments, employers, and organized labor. RENGO represents organized labor in national consultations with government and business.
