Revisionist Zionism

Revisionist Zionism was a movement founded by Ze’ev Jabotinsky that advocated Jewish statehood on both banks of the Jordan River and a more assertive political strategy.

Ze’ev Jabotinsky: Ze’ev Jabotinsky was a Zionist leader, writer, and founder of Revisionist Zionism. He founded the movement and articulated its nationalist program.

Both banks of the Jordan: “Both banks of the Jordan” was the territorial slogan claiming land east and west of the river for a Jewish national home. It expressed the movement’s rejection of territorial limits west of the Jordan.
Irgun: The Irgun was a Zionist paramilitary organization active in Mandatory Palestine from 1931 to 1948. It became the most prominent armed organization associated with Revisionist Zionism.
Israeli right: The Israeli right is a political camp emphasizing nationalism, security, and generally conservative positions. Revisionist Zionism supplied a major historical strand of this camp.
Balfour Declaration: The Balfour Declaration was Britain’s 1917 statement supporting a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine. Its limited wording became a point of contention for Jabotinsky’s territorial claims.
Jewish Legion: The Jewish Legion was a group of Jewish battalions in the British Army during the First World War. Jabotinsky organized it as a means of securing Jewish military participation in Palestine.
