Richard Burbage

Richard Burbage (c. 1567–1619) was an English actor and theatrical entrepreneur who originated leading roles in Shakespeare’s plays, including Hamlet, Othello, and King Lear.

William Shakespeare: William Shakespeare was an English playwright and poet whose works include Hamlet, Othello, and King Lear. Shakespeare wrote the major roles Burbage originated, and the two worked within the same acting company.
Hamlet: Hamlet is Shakespeare’s tragedy about a Danish prince seeking to avenge his father’s murder. Burbage is traditionally identified as the first actor to play Shakespeare’s title character.
Lord Chamberlain’s Men: The Lord Chamberlain’s Men was an English acting company formed in 1594 and later renamed the King’s Men. Burbage was its leading tragedian and a sharer in the company.
