Richard Jordan Gatling

Richard Jordan Gatling was an American inventor best known for creating the Gatling gun, a hand-cranked rapid-fire weapon introduced during the American Civil War.

Gatling gun: A hand-cranked firearm whose rotating barrels load, fire, and eject cartridges in sequence. Gatling’s best-known invention used a crank to make multiple barrels fire rapidly.
