Robert Bellarmine

Robert Bellarmine (1542–1621) was an Italian Jesuit theologian and cardinal whose writings defended Catholic doctrine and shaped the Counter-Reformation.

Galileo Galilei: Galileo Galilei (1564–1642) was an Italian astronomer and physicist who advocated the Copernican system. Bellarmine questioned Galileo about heliocentrism and delivered the 1616 injunction against teaching it as fact.
