Romantic orientation

Romantic orientation is a pattern of whom, if anyone, a person experiences romantic attraction toward. It may be similar to or different from that person’s sexual orientation.

Romantic attraction: Romantic attraction is a desire for romantic closeness or partnership with another person. It is the experience whose recurring pattern romantic orientation describes.
Heteroromanticism: Heteroromanticism is romantic attraction primarily toward people of a different gender. It is one specific pattern described using romantic-orientation language.
Coming out: Coming out is the process of disclosing a sexual, romantic, or gender identity to others. People may choose to communicate their romantic orientation through disclosure.
Romantic behavior: Romantic behavior consists of actions culturally or personally associated with romance. Behavior does not by itself establish a person's pattern of romantic attraction.
Sexual orientation: Sexual orientation describes patterns of sexual attraction, identity, or both. It can align with romantic orientation or differ from it.
Homoromanticism: Homoromanticism is romantic attraction primarily toward people of the same gender. It names a romantic pattern that may coexist with varied sexual orientations.
Queerplatonic relationship: A queerplatonic relationship is a committed relationship that is not understood as conventionally romantic or platonic. It shows that relationship forms do not always map neatly onto romantic attraction.
Relationship status: Relationship status describes whether someone is partnered, single, or in another relationship arrangement. Being partnered or single does not determine romantic orientation.
Aromantic spectrum: The aromantic spectrum includes identities describing little, conditional, or absent romantic attraction. It names a range of orientations centered on limited or absent romantic attraction.
Biromanticism: Biromanticism is romantic attraction toward people of more than one gender. It is a distinct label for a pattern of romantic attraction.
