Ronald Fisher

Ronald Fisher was a British statistician, geneticist, and evolutionary biologist who developed influential statistical methods and helped found population genetics.

Maximum likelihood estimation: A method that estimates model parameters by choosing values that make observed data most probable. Fisher developed and formalized this method as a foundation for statistical inference.
