RSS is a web feed format that publishes updates in a machine-readable document, allowing software to collect new items from websites.

RSS feed: A machine-readable document listing a website’s recent or regularly updated items. It is the document a publisher exposes for RSS software to retrieve.
XML: A markup language that structures data with nested, named elements. RSS documents use XML syntax to encode feed metadata and items.
