Knowra Russian Civil War Russian Civil War The Russian Civil War was a multi-sided conflict from 1917 to 1922 among Bolsheviks, anti-Bolshevik forces, national movements, and foreign armies. The Bolshevik victory established Soviet rule over most of the former Russian Empire.
Red Army : The Bolshevik military force organized during the Russian Civil War under the leadership of Leon Trotsky. Its centralized command and conscription helped the Bolsheviks hold key territories and defeat rival armies.
Russian Revolution : The upheavals of 1917 that ended imperial rule in Russia and brought the Bolsheviks to power. The revolutions removed the old state and created the rival authorities that fought for control.
Leon Trotsky : A Bolshevik revolutionary who organized and led the Red Army during the Russian Civil War. His railway-based command system helped coordinate forces across distant fronts.
