Russian Olympic Committee

The Russian Olympic Committee is Russia’s national Olympic organization, responsible for representing the country and its athletes in the Olympic movement.

International Olympic Committee: The international nongovernmental organization that governs the Olympic movement and organizes the Olympic Games. It recognizes national Olympic committees and determines their standing in the Olympic movement.
Russian Olympic movement: The development and organization of Olympic sport in Russia across imperial, Soviet, and post-Soviet eras. The committee is the principal national institution within this broader movement.
Russian doping scandal: A series of investigations into state-supported doping in Russian sport, especially from 2011 through 2015. The scandal led to international sanctions affecting Russian athletes and sports bodies.
