Russification of Finland

Russification of Finland was a series of Russian imperial policies from 1899 to 1917 intended to integrate the autonomous Grand Duchy more closely into the empire.

February Manifesto: A 1899 imperial decree asserting the Russian emperor’s authority to legislate for Finland on matters deemed imperial. It launched the first major phase by weakening the Finnish Diet’s control over legislation.
