Russo-Persian War (1804–1813)

A war between the Russian Empire and Qajar Iran from 1804 to 1813 that ended with Russian control of much of the South Caucasus, formalized by the Treaty of Gulistan.

Treaty of Georgievsk: A 1783 agreement placing the Kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti under Russian protection while preserving its internal autonomy. Its promises of protection helped draw Georgia into Russia’s orbit before Russia annexed it.
Pavel Tsitsianov: A Russian general and administrator who led the conquest of Georgia and directed early campaigns in the Caucasus. His assault on Ganja in 1804 triggered open fighting with Qajar forces.
