Safed Koh

Safed Koh, also called Spin Ghar or the White Mountains, is a mountain range along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, south of the Hindu Kush.

Hindu Kush: The Hindu Kush is a major mountain system extending through Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan. Safed Koh lies south of this larger mountain system.
Mountain pass: A mountain pass is a route through a mountain range that crosses a lower point between peaks. Passes provide the main practical routes across Safed Koh's rugged terrain.
Mount Sikaram: Mount Sikaram is the highest peak of the Safed Koh range, on the Afghanistan–Pakistan border. It is the range's defining summit and highest point.
Khyber Pass campaign: The Khyber Pass campaigns were military operations conducted around a strategic route between Afghanistan and the Indian subcontinent. The adjacent mountain corridors made this borderland a recurring arena of military movement.
Afghanistan–Pakistan border: The Afghanistan–Pakistan border is the international boundary separating Afghanistan and Pakistan. The range follows part of this politically significant boundary.
Khyber Pass: The Khyber Pass is a historic route through the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan. It crosses the broader borderland near Safed Koh and illustrates the region's strategic corridors.
Parachinar: Parachinar is the principal town of Pakistan's Kurram District, near the Afghan border. The town sits in a high valley close to Safed Koh's eastern slopes.
Durand Line: The Durand Line is the boundary established in 1893 between Afghanistan and British India, now Pakistan. Its course divides communities and terrain around the range.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a province in northwestern Pakistan bordering Afghanistan. Its western districts meet the range's Pakistani side.
Kurram Valley: Kurram Valley is a highland valley in northwestern Pakistan, extending toward the Afghan border. It is one of the inhabited corridors along the range's eastern flank.
